Acknowledging the essential role of the youth in nation-building, KEPCO Philippines has launched an Educational Scholarship Program for residents living near its power facilities.
KEPCO Ilijan Corporation’s (KEILCO) school assistance program provides scholarships for at least twenty (20) students annually. In addition, KEILCO regularly donates school supplies, sponsors school contests, and funds the construction of classrooms and other school facilities.
Also, KEILCO’s Ilijan Community Development Foundation (ICDF) has engaged in a basic computer literacy program and a Sikap Unlad Training, benefiting 6000 individuals in 2016.
In the Visayas region, KEPCO SPC Power Corporation (KSPC) has provided scholarships to eight (8) deserving students from 2013 until the present. KSPC has also engaged in skills training programs such as welding and fabrication training, which benefited thirty-five (35) out-of-school-youths, and beauty care training, which benefited forty (40) women in 2014 and twenty-two (22) women in 2016. In addition to this, it provided financial assistance to graduates and top pupils of the NPC-Colon Elementary School, and to the Naga Central School in its participation in the 2014 Robotic Olympiad. It also donated books and television sets to the Naga Public Library and computer sets to the NPC-Colon Elementary School.
KEPCO Philippines regularly conducts free medical and dental missions for its community-beneficiaries.
In 2016, KEPCO Ilijan Corporation (KEILCO) conducted two medical missions, benefiting 514 individuals. In addition to this, its Operation Tuli has helped a total of 83 young boys.
On the other hand, KEPCO SPC Power Corporation (KSPC), has, from 2013-2016, conducted several medical missions, benefiting at least 3300 individuals and 5 local government units. Its Operation Tuli has also benefited at least 85 young boys in the barangays of the City of Naga, Cebu.
Livelihood Assistance
KEPCO SPC Power Corporation (KSPC) has also engaged in skills training programs such as welding and fabrication training, which benefited thirty-five (35) out-of-school-youths, and beauty care training, which benefited forty (40) women in 2014 and twenty-two (22) women in 2016. In addition to this it provided community support to the senior citizens of Barangays Colon, Tangke, and North Poblacion, donating uniforms and sound systems for the use of senior citizen associations.
KEPCO Philippines has established cooperatives within its plant communities and has provided the needed infrastructure such as roads, multi-purpose halls, drainage systems, and school and church construction and rehabilitation, for the continuing development of its host communities.
In fact, in 2016, KEPCO Ilijan Corporation, supported and donated a total of Php367,210.00 to the Batangas City Fiesta, Barangay Ilijan Fiesta, the Fire Prevention Month and Disaster Consciousness Months of Batangas City, the Foundation Day of Batangas City, the 75th Anniversary of the Ilijan St. Michael Parish, and the MBBC Job Fair.
On the other hand, KEPCO SPC Power Corporation engages, on a yearly basis, in the upgrading of the Barangay Health Centers of Barangays Colon, North Poblacion, and Tangke by donating equipment that will be used in the service provision of these health centers. In 2013, KSPC also donated wheelchairs to persons with disability (PWD), motor bancas to fishermen and vitamin supplements to day care and kinder pupils of Barangays Colon, Tangke and North Poblacion. Aside from this, KSPC donated garbage drums to Barangay Colon residents in 2014, a bulletin board, and safety signs to NPC-Colon Elementary School in 2014, a lunch counter building to NPC-Colon Elementary School in 2015, air-conditioning units to the Naga Philippine National Police in 2016, and a kitchen to the NPC-Colon Elementary School in 2016.
Disaster Relief
In the event of natural disasters, KEPCO Philippines promptly responds to aid affected communities.
During the 2013 Bohol earthquake, KEPCO Philippines provided a total of Php500,000.00 financial assistance to the victims through the Bohol Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc.
After Typhoon Yolanda, KEPCO Philippines also gave assistance to the victims by donating Php500,000.00 to the Leyte Provincial Government.
In 2014 and 2015, KEPCO SPC Power Corporation, also respectively donated an ambulance and a pick-up truck to the City of Naga, Cebu for its emergency and disaster risk reduction management.
